The RPG Engine is your all-in-one toolkit for creating and experiencing dynamic roleplaying worlds and we’re excited that it’s coming to Tilt Five.  Developed by Polydemons, this VTT allows you to unleash your creativity as you craft intricate terrains, adorned with a vast array of props, and bring your virtual world to life.

We asked the team what the process of bringing The RPG Engine to Tilt Five has been like! Here's what they had to say about getting the stage set for holographic RPG campaigns.

What was the production process like for your team?
Going into it we were a little worried at the technical difficulties of working with 3D inputs and rendering issues we would inevitably run into, but this turned out not to be the case at all. It all just worked! Sure, there's new design ideas that we needed to implement but even for our very small team working with the Tilt Five hardware has been a breeze and super fun seeing our work come to life on our tables.

What made you want to integrate Tilt Five into your video game?

It seemed like the perfect pairing! VTTs have always been frowned upon for removing the in-person element of TTRPGs. This new combo gives you the best of both worlds; you're not limited by real world physics, space, setup time etc. and you can have infinite maps all at your disposal in an instant to you and your players.

Do you have any tips for developers who are interested in integrating their existing game or building a new game for Tilt Five?

The integration itself is a breeze. Just throw their plugin into your project--we used Unity--drop in the prefab, and hit play. Move the gameboard like you would move a camera and the integration is mostly done! Be smart about your interaction design. Text doesn't read well if it’s too small, so use icons where possible and ask for feedback from your community and Tilt Five's during development, there's plenty of people there to help shape your games experience!

What was it like to see your game on the Tilt Five system for the first time?

The first time we plugged in the hardware, booted up some of our existing maps, and put the glasses on we all just turned to each other mouths agape! I kid you not, we were all absolutely pumped to see the game as a hologram. Going from a flat pc screen to an interactive experience was quite literally a game changer. It just works so well!

What games or experiences are you looking forward to  trying on the Tilt Five?

We're waiting for someone to pin the board against a wall and use it as a 3D monitor - why has no-one done this? It would make ANY platformer game POP!

Is there anything else you want to share or include?

We've been working with the Tilt Five team, helping us fix some bugs and provide them with feature feedback, and they seem like an all-round awesome, passionate, friendly team!

We also wanted to share an important picture of our hardworking team!

The Polydemon's team dressed in their finest!

Stay tuned for the launch of The RPG Engine for Tilt Five! Do you have your campaign ideas ready?
