I am responsible for a majority of the social media posts and overseeing the Discord. I also try and help out wherever the team needs me. Anything that has to do with growing our community and making sure our users are happy. A day typically involves catching up on social media posts and combing Discord for any feedback I can relay to the team. Then scheduling out new posts and content for the following week.
What are your credentials/past experience, for working in your position?
I spent the last six or so years working in the VR industry helping companies build and maintain communities. I started at High Fidelity VR where I spent 8 hours a day standing (in VR) inside a virtual welcome room and welcoming all the new users as they came online and showing them how to navigate build and interact in the virtual space. It was a fun way to get my foot in the door and learn more about the industry. Since then I worked for Facebook as a Quest 2 Ambassador and trainer, Pimax as a US sales manager, and PlutoVR just to name a few. I then started VR Trend Magazine which was the first and only Print magazine dedicated to VR. All of these positions put me in charge of community and social media which made me always feel like I was part of the action.
Where did you grow up? What were you doing before working at Tilt Five?
I grew up in a small resort town in Idaho called Coeur D' Alene, I spent a couple years in Germany but most my life has been right here. Before Tilt Five and working in the tech industry I spent nine years as a sales manager for Harley-Davidson at the third largest dealership in the country. After that I was an electric utility engineer selling high voltage substation equipment and powerlines.
What do you like about working at Tilt Five?
All of it, everyone on the team is so helpful and encouraging, I never feel dumb for asking a question and I think there's a real want to see each other succeed. I don’t live near HQ but I never feel left out and that's a great feeling. Also, I get to play games!
When I am not working, I enjoy hanging out with my 3-year-old daughter. We often go metal detecting at the park (I found my first gold ring this year!). I also have hundreds of unfinished house projects, so I usually bounce between a couple of them pretending I know what I'm doing.
